Down on the farm

4/5/23

Nursery and Reception took a trip to the countryside yesterday to find out about some animals. We were caring, courageous and curious.

Caring

We loved stroking the animals. We were very careful to stroke them gently. We stroked mice, rabbits, guinea pigs and skinny pigs. They were very soft. We enjoyed feeding the baby lambs too. We saw a new born goat who was born that morning. He shares a birthday with someone in Early Years so Whitehouse farm named the goat his name! How cool is that!

Courageous

We were brave when touched other animals too including snakes, lizards and cockroaches. Mrs Watson even had a mouse on her head. We had to show courage when feeding the animals too. We made sure we had a flat hand and the animals nibbled the food very gently. It was a little bit tickly!

Curious

We found out lots of information about the animals we met. We found out the names of baby animals. We learnt about what the animals give us. We learnt all about the horns of sheep and goats. We were amazed how quickly the antlers of a reindeer grew and how the prongs tell you how old it is. We impressed our guides with our knowledge too.

All in all we had a brilliant day in the sun. We loved riding the tractor, playing in the park and soft play and bouncing on the pillows. Thank you to our wonderful guides for their enthusiasm and patience.

Thank you to the grown ups who joined us too. We couldn’t have done it without you.
