Forest School!

23/3/23

Every class has been so lucky to spend time at forest school with Mr Holman. A massive Shout out to Mr Holman for helping us all to learn about the outdoors and ways that we can help.

Early Years

Look what Nursery found in forest school! #afscourageous

Year 1

Year 1 have been making mini dens for little people. We also lit fairy fires with a dragon’s sneeze fire steel. It was great fun and we love learning outdoors!

Year 2

We looked for the very first signs of Spring and created tiny houses out of twigs and leaves. Mr Holman showed us how to use the saws and drills safely which was a lot of fun. For our final Forest school session we had a whole class campfire and made popcorn. It was delicious! Thank you Mr Holman! #afscaring

Our Campfire!

Year 3

We started the Spring term by looking at signs of the changing seasons and naming the different types of tress we could find. We even spotted bird prints in the snow and new buds coming up through the snow and on the willow arch.

We thoroughly enjoyed using a pruning saw and a drill to help Mr Holman saw the wood.

‘We used forest school to create our own stories!

‘I decided to use my stick to transport with Joel to different places. We went to the beach, train station and then back to forest school.’ Harry, Class 8 #afscreative

Year 4

Year 4 really enjoyed their Forest School sessions. They had the opportunity to investigate the local area and had fun making models and sculptures from natural materials. We also enjoyed playing games, our favourite was ‘feed the eagle’. During our final session, we even got to toast popcorn on an open fire. Thank you to Mr Holman for organising our fabulous forest fun. #afscreative
