We have had a BRILLIANT start to the year in Year 1! Just take a look at some of the things we have been up to.
We started the year off with recapping lots of skills that we learnt in EYFS. The children had lots of chance to learn through play and access challenges in their own way and at their own time.
The children really have blown us away in Numeracy so far this year. They have super understanding of place value and have solved some tricky problems and challenges using different equipment. We also loved how creative they have been when working with 3D shapes!
We can’t wait to see what they get up to next half term!
In DT we have been making puppets! The children explored different ways of joining materials together and then decided which was the best. After that they watched a video of the story “Little Red Riding Hood” and designed and made their own puppets based on the characters or woodland creatures. We think they are fantastic. Well done Year 1!
Our Topic this half term has been “All Around Me”. The children have been exploring their local area and identifying human and physical features. We used our planning and decision making skills to make a positive change around school. Stay tuned for the upcoming change to the stage area in the playground!
We are so proud of how the children have settled in Year 1 and how hard they have worked. We can’t wait to continue the fun next half term!
