Joining Nursery September 2026
Archibald First School offer 15 hours of free nursery provision to children who are aged 3 on or before 31st August 2026. The hours are offered as either Option 1, Option 2 or Option 3.
Option 1 - 15 hours a week
Monday 8.40 – 3.15
Tuesday 8.40 – 3.15
Wednesday 8.40 – 11.30
Option 2 - 15 hours a week
Wednesday 12.30 – 3.15
Thursday 8.40 – 3.15
Friday 8.40 – 3.15
Agreement for Accepting an Option 1 or 2 Nursery Place
In applying for and accepting a nursery place at Archibald First School you are entering an agreement to use your initial 15 free hours with Archibald for the entire academic year that you join us in/for. Any additional hours taken as part of the free entitlement should be taken with another provider.
Four weeks notice is required for any child leaving the nursery provision.
Option 3 – 30 hours per week
Monday to Friday: 8.40am – 3.15pm
Agreement for Accepting an Option 3 Nursery Place
If you are not eligible for a 30-hour code, you can choose to pay for the additional 15 hours childcare. This will be approximately £95 a week (to be confirmed), which is to be paid in advance, on a weekly basis.
For those parents who are eligible for a 30-hour code: In applying for and accepting a nursery place at Archibald First School for 30 hours, you are entering an agreement to use your initial 15 free hours and the additional 15 funded hours with Archibald for the entire academic year of 2026-27. You also agree to confirm your 30-hour code by the deadline requested by Newcastle City Council or this will affect your child's additional funded 15 hours and you may be charged the cost of the nursery place for the autumn term.

Nursery Lunches
Nursery children are asked to bring in a healthy packed lunch from home or pay for a school meal for their 2 full days (£3 per day).

To apply you must use the application form below. If you prefer a paper copy, these are available to pick up from the school office.

Your child’s birth certificate and proof of your home address (dated within the last 3 months) must be shown with the application form.
Nursery Application Dates for 2026
- Applications open: Friday 9 January 2026
- Closing date: Monday 27 March 2026 noon
- Offer emails: Wednesday 1 April 2026
- Deadline to accept: Friday 24 April 2026 noon
These dates are confirmed by all schools in the Gosforth Schools Trust.
Visits to Nursery
We would like to invite prospective nursery parents into school for a tour of our Early Years setting from January 2026. These visits are only for parents/carers of children starting Nursery in September 2026.
Bookings will be taken from 9th January 2026.

The visits are for adults only and a maximum of two adults per family. These visits are in high demand, we ask that you please inform us, as soon as possible, if you are unable to attend, so your place can be reallocated to someone who is able to attend.

The school admin team will be back in touch with you as soon as possible to confirm if you have a place and on which date.
