Year 2 Autumn

An Awesome Autumn in Year 2 so far...

This Autumn Term has been full of creativity, learning, and exciting new challenges for Year 2!
The children have been busy becoming authors, planning and writing their very own fairytales. They explored story structure, developed imaginative characters, and added plenty of magical twists to make their tales unique.
In Maths, we focused on key skills such as place value, addition, and subtraction. Pupils also explored shapes and symmetry, using practical activities to deepen their understanding of patterns and spatial reasoning.
Our PE lessons introduced gymnastics, where children practised balance, coordination, and flexibility. Alongside this, we worked on building overall fitness through fun and engaging activities.
We began our exciting topic on The Great Fire of London, learning about how the fire started, its impact on the city, and the changes it brought to London. The children have enjoyed discussing life in 1666 and comparing it to today.

Creativity has been at the heart of our learning. The children designed and built teddy bear stools, combining practical skills with imaginative thinking. They also constructed mechanical monsters, exploring simple mechanisms and movement. In Art, pupils experimented with sketching techniques and produced a range of impressive artwork.

Year 2 have shown fantastic enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the term. We are proud of their achievements and can’t wait to see what they accomplish next!
