Stone Age in Year 3

For History on our Doorstep, Year 3 have been learning about Pre-History. We have kick started our learning this week by learning all about the three different eras of the Stone Age; Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic before we move onto the Bronze and Iron Age in coming weeks.

We were so lucky to receive a learning box from The Sill, Northumberland which featured replica artefacts from these ages. We have great fun exploring them, and using our inference skills to work out what they can tell us about pre-history.

On Friday we went to the Sill for two wonderful workshops. We got to handle and explore evidence from the Paleolithic era with Kevin, who was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions before allowing us to create some charcoal cave paintings. We also completed an archaeology workshop where we completed a history mystery and worked as a team to look for clues about what the evidence provided us with.

Thank you very much to the Sill for having us, and we can't wait to continue exploring these ancient eras of history in school.
