Roald Dahl Week

2/10/12

Everyone at Archibald officially loves Roald Dahl and his books.  We had the most amazing week using his books to inspire us.  Early Year read the Enormous Crocodile and used it to inspire their artwork.  Year 1 read the BFG.  They made dream jars and measured snozzcumbers in Numeracy.  Year 2 read the Twits.  They made collages with lots of horrible things in Mr Twits beard.  Year 3 read Charlie and the Chocolate factory.  They did lots of literacy work using his recipes as well as becoming journalists to report on our special week.  They made lots of yummy treats too.  Year 4 read George’s Marvellous Medicine.  They had a go at making their own potions and created chants, just like George.

On Friday 28th September it was Roald Dahl Dressing up day.  We could dress up as a character from Roald Dahl’s books or come dressed in yellow, his favourite colour.  You haven’t never seen so many Oompa Loompas in one school before! We donated £1 to Roald Dahl’s Charity for dressing up.  In our achievement assembly, we shared what we had done and agreed we had had a splendiferous week!
